  1. Laudable effort. Are there Sanskrit to Tamil and Tamil-Sanskrit dictionaries available? Perhaps LIFCO has published them. Please keep up the good work. May the blessings of the Universe be upon you.

    • Dear Sir,
      PraNAms!
You are right! MY father presented a LIFCO Dictionary to my sons when they were in School. It gave the meaning of the Sanskrit words in three different languages viz English, Hindi and Tamil.
I do not think that book is available now. I just selected about 4000 words we use most (and most of us use wrongly) and made it only from Sanskrit to Tamil.
Thank you for your blessings. I need them and I can use them! 🙂
Welcome to my website for blogs of Articles, poems, proverbs, stories and poems based on the VyAsA’s PuRAnAs. Right now I am presenting Devi Baaghavatam of Sage VyAsA as simple Tamil poems along with their English translations. I started the work of epic nature in January 2014. I hope to be able to complete the ~ 900 poems and their translation by December 2014 by Devi’s grace!

  2. Thank you for your quick response. I will try to get at least a used copy of the LIFCO dictionary. I am 77 years old, and my wife lalitha and I have been here in the united States since 1969. I want to relearn Sanskrit so that I can translate some of my published Tamil poems and stories. I wish you the very best in your projects.

    • dear Sir!
PraNAs! I did not log in for a few days since I was stitching new blouses for a marriage next month. I do hope you will find a copy of the book. I can spare my copy after fixing the loose pages- in case you are not able to find one.
Hope you have visited my other blogs also.
      with warm regards,
      Visalakshi Ramani

  3. Dear VR:
Thank you for your kind offer. I have now quite a few Sanskrit -English and English-Sanskrit dictionaries, all bought very recently. I am happy to know you are also a physicist, and your sons are here in the United States which is still the best country in the world. My wife and I left India for good in 1969, and from our periodical visits to Chennai and Bombay, I feel that was the best decision I made in my life. I wish you and your family the very best.

I follow Zen, and the following poem of mine will explain what is Zen.

    The spiritual and mundane merge
    Zen begins.
The interconnection of all things fills
    Your awareness.
“How can it be otherwise?” you ask
    And smile your way
    Through life.

Please feel free to share the above poem with you friends. It gives the recipe for a joyful life at any age, any place.

    • dear Sir!
      PranAms.

Both my sons excel in Physics! The elder one is USA since 1992 and the younger one since 1995. They are both products of Madras I.I.T. They went for doing PhD, found a job and settled down there.

The elder one got married in 2004 and has a daughter aged 5 and 1/2 and a son aged 2 and 1/2 years. The younger son has two sons aged 4 and 1/2 and 1 year.

The elder D.I.L is a professor in mathematics. My talented younger D.I.L helps me with my blogs. She is a work-from-home-mom!

I will post your poem in a forum in which I write right now.
Do convey my warm regards to Smt. Lalita also!

      with namaskaars to you,
      yours sincerely,
      Visalakshi Ramani.

  4. Dear VR:

What a great family! You should feel blessed. May this blessing continue for ever. I have been blessed in countless ways. The greatest blessing came on June 25, 1962 when I married Lalitha. I consider it a great privilege to have her as my life-partner. She has a couple of cooking videos on YouTube. You can access them by going to YouTube and typing Lalitha Sundararajan. Later on I will write in detail about my son and daughter. Best wishes to you and your family.

    • Dear Sir,
I will visit the YouTube when time permits me. 🙂
I am bent on completing the remaining skandas of Devi Bhaagavatam before the end of 2014.
I am keeping a low profile in forum in which i write just save a few more minutes/ hours a day!
I am still 3 skandas and 50 poems away from my target! The tenth and the eleventh sum up to 62 poems. the twelfth may come to 30 + poems. My next two blogs will be on stories from Pancha Tantra in the form of poems and the other on the Sages and Saints of India.
      Have great day sir! 🙂
      with warm regards,
      V.R
